_Oil and Gas SMD supply our Q-series workclass ROVs, including tether management systems and LARS, to many of the world's leading offshore service providers. Our pipeline burial machines (ploughs, tractors, ROVs and towed jetters) are used by all the world’s major installation contractors. We also provide Curvetech™ components for other companies to build their own ROVs or for other projects.

_Telecoms The SMD range of cable ploughs set the standard for the protection of underwater fibre optic cables across the globe. They have been used to bury in excess of 100,000km by all the major cable installers. We also supply a range of high power trenching ROVs and tractors for post lay burial and maintenance. SMD also provide the complete spread of cable ship deck equipment including linear and drum cable engines, A- Frames and tow winches.

_Renewables SMD are developing a free stream tidal generator, know as TIDEL. We also supply specialised burial equipment for the protection of offshore wind farm power cables.

_Mining and Salvage SMD have supplied machines for subsea diamond mining and special ROVs for wreck salvage. We have also developed a machine for deepwater minerals mining.

_Scientific Our Q-Series workclass ROV systems provide ideal platforms for deepwater survey, observation and special tooling applications. Our cable burial vehicles are also used for the installation of permanent observatories.

_Military SMD workclass ROVs are used by a number of Navies for submarine rescue and salvage work. We also supply standard and special application vehicles for cable burial and other tasks.
