SMD, a global leader in subsea technology and solutions, has announced collaborations with Rental Technology and Services (RTS) and Seatronics to bring SMD’s Artemis subsea cable and pipe detection technology to market via strategic rental agreements.

Artemis is a world-first in subsea detection technology. It’s the only system on the market that can detect both live and dead subsea cables and pipelines at extreme depths, in real-time. Through these partnerships, customers can now hire Artemis Active systems to improve their operations, from surveys to maintenance.

Lindsay Smith, Business Development Manager for New Technology at SMD, said of the new partnerships: “By partnering with RTS and Seatronics, customers can now access our cutting-edge subsea detection technology without the need for significant upfront investment associated with ownership. We hope this will provide flexibility and cost-effectiveness in their operations.

“We now have a panel of two global suppliers which will make Artemis more accessible to a wider range of customers by offering a range of leasing options.”

RTS and Seatronics are industry leaders in underwater equipment leasing, renowned for their commitment to delivering innovative solutions and exceptional customer service. Through these partnerships, SMD strengthens its position as a leader in underwater robotics while reinforcing its dedication to customer success.

Andrew Logan, UK Sales Manager at RTS said: “Artemis is an important product for the market and we are thrilled to be able to offer yet another innovative SMD product to our valued customer base.

“It will revolutionise the subsea landscape with its accurate and comprehensive data acquisition and genuinely improve our customer’s cabling tracking experience. It’s an honour to be an arm of support during SMD’s journey.”

Brian Pritchard, UK Regional Manager at Seatronics said on the collaboration: “We are delighted to be working with SMD to deliver Artemis to the market through our global leasing services based in Aberdeen, Singapore, Houston and Abu Dhabi.

“This partnership reflects our dedication to providing our customers with cutting-edge solutions that drive efficiency and performance in their subsea projects.”

The partnership between SMD, RTS and Seatronics underscores their shared commitment to innovation and excellence in the subsea industry.

Artemis is available in two different modes of operation, Passive or Active.  Artemis Passive system is used when there is a residual signal, whether this be from live transmission or toned, and Artemis Active system is utilised when the tone needs inducing locally, i.e. unpowered or dead products.
